What is the difference between the Guinness World Records and the World Records granted by the World Record Association?

What they share in common:

1. The same scope of records: They both record non-sporting event, civil world records.

2. The same nature of the recording organization: The records are all reviewed and recorded by private world record recording organizations.

3. The same method of application: Applicants may apply to the recording organizations, and will receive certificates once they pass the review.

 

The differences that they have:

1. Different recording organizations: The Guinness World Records are recorded and approved by Guinness, while the World Records are recorded and approved by the World Record Association;

2. Different searching methods: All records granted by the World Record Association can be traced through the official website, while the Guinness Records cannot.

3. Different charging principles: The World Record Association never charges for applications which fail the review, while Guinness does differently.
